Beginning with The Lost Hero, the first installment in the series, Riordan masterfully introduces new demigods who carry the mantle of the heroes of old. Jason Grace, a son of Jupiter, and Piper McLean, a daughter of Aphrodite, team up with Leo Valdez, a son of Hephaestus, to unravel the mystery of the missing Hera. As they embark on their mission, they forge unbreakable bonds and discover hidden powers within themselves. Riordan deftly weaves together the familiar mythology of the Olympians with fresh perspectives, creating a vibrant tapestry that captivates readers of all ages. With each subsequent book, the stakes rise higher, and the heroes face increasingly perilous challenges. The Mark of Athena delves into the depths of the ancient Labyrinth, where they must confront their fears and unravel the secrets of a lost civilization.
In The House of Hades, the heroes descend into the Underworld itself, facing the wrath of the Titans and the challenges of the underworldly realm. Along the way, they grapple with their own mortality and discover that true heroism lies not only in physical strength but also in emotional resilience and the unwavering bonds they share. The Blood of Olympus brings the series to a climactic conclusion, pitting the heroes against the forces of chaos and the ultimate threat to the world. Riordan weaves an intricate tapestry of action, betrayal, and self-sacrifice, leading the heroes to their final destiny and a profound understanding of their place in the grand scheme of myth and destiny. Best Heroes of Olympus Editions
Of all the offerings from the god of war and iron, the “Best Heroes of Olympus” line is a hard one to pin down due to the format it’s released in, and the variety of versions they come with.
There’s a couple of reasons I find this line hard to rank or definitively say is “the best,” the first being that unlike previous lines that all used the same format and followed suit with previous generations, the Best Heroes of Olympus series splits off into quite a few different versions. The second is that those versions vary with what they come with, so it’s up to the buyer to decide what they want, rather than the format dictating it.
On its own the figure is essentially just an articulated version of the old school statues of the heroes, with one extra feature being the ability to equip them with a sword and shield. The figures come with an inventory list of what’s included which will vary between editions and versions, so individual preferences will play a big factor in what a person thinks of the Best Heroes of Olympus line.
